LEGACY SERENITY TAEKWON-DO

The Dojang

The friendship between Master Facciolo and Ms. Ciaravella began years ago, when they trained at Woodbridge Taekwon-Do. Both with a passion for the Art and the love of teaching, each ventured on and opened up their Taekwon-Do schools. Master Facciolo opened Legacy Taekwon-Do in 2003 and Ms. Ciaravella opened Serenity Taekwon-Do in 2015.

Over the years, they have worked on various projects together, as they shared the same values and teaching ethics. Their lives and businesses were disrupted in the middle of March 2020, when COVID-19 shut their businesses down. As full time working moms and entrepreneurs, they were faced with a new challenge of how their businesses could survive a pandemic. Recognizing each other’s personal strengths, it was only fitting that they pivot their business model and work together to create an online teaching platform for their students. This joint venture proved how two could become one and so Legacy Serenity United was created.

Legacy Serenity United is dedicated to their students, creating a positive atmosphere for students to have fun, work hard, and create memories.

CERTIFIED

Master Facciolo began her Martial Arts journey at the age of 11 in Karate where she received her purple belt. She transitioned from Karate to Taekwon-Do, where she trained alongside her two siblings. In 2018 Master Facciolo was promoted to 8th degree, an honour few women hold. Her training and knowledge spans 30 years.

Ms. Ciaravella has been training in Taekwon-Do for over twenty years, since she was 9 years old. Her passion for teaching began just before she earned her black belt. She is currently a 6th Degree Black Belt and has been teaching Taekwon-Do for over fifteen years.

Master Facciolo and Ms. Ciaravella have represented Canada through individual and team competition nationally and internationally. They are certified Taekwon-Do Instructors through the International Ch’ang-Hon Taekwon-Do Federation and a proud member of the Woodbridge Taekwon-Do Group.

PASSIONATE

Master Facciolo's Taekwon-Do journey has taught her strength, wearing it is a badge of honour. She has marked her presence in a predominately male world and is a voice for young girls and women in Taekwon-Do. Outside of her passion for Taekwon-Do, she is a wife and mom to three amazing children who continue to provide her with the strength to achieve more and be better.

Ms. Ciaravella’s passion for Taekwon-Do has flourished over the years, motivating her to open her own Taekwon-Do school. Her determination to succeed has provided her with various opportunities to instruct seminars on self-defence for children and women in the schools and recreation programs.

As a result of their combined certifications and experience as worldwide competitors, Master Facciolo and Ms. Ciaravella are recognized within the Taekwon-Do community.

EXPERIENCED

Master Facciolo has taught community centre programs in Etobicoke, Richmond Hill, and King City. Ms. Ciaravella worked within the City of Vaughan for over ten years with children of all ages. Her experience in recreational programs, alongside Taekwon-Do instruction, has encouraged her to pursue a career in Education.

Their various certifications and teaching experiences have made positive contributions to their Taekwon-Do instruction over the years, providing them with invaluable instructional and assessment strategies ensuring all students perform to the best of their ability.

"The success of every woman should be

the inspiration to another."

Where we began

Legacy Taekwon-Do was opened in 2003 by Franca Facciolo. Located in the Township of King, in Oak Ridges, Legacy Taekwon-Do has created deep roots for many families in that community. Although now teaching in Vaughan, Legacy Taekwon-Do continues to run community centre programs in King Township and the Town of Richmond Hill.

Serenity Taekwon-Do was opened in January 2015 by Leia Ciaravella. The school started running classes out of an elementary school gym in Vaughan and has been fortunate to work with Splashville Inc. since September 2015 to run classes.

Disclaimer: Training and practicing Taekwon-Do/Martial Arts is inherently dangerous. All training, with exception of practicing patterns as explained by the instructors of Legacy Serenity United Taekwon-Do, should be pursued only in the controlled environment and under the supervision of a trained instructor.
