History of Taekwon-Do

Taekwon-Do is a form of Martial Art which is designed for the purpose of self-defense. The combination of intensive technique, mental training, and discipline are the foundation for building a strong sense of justice, fortitude, and humility. Taekwon-Do is called an “art of self-defense,” as it implies a way of thinking about life, instilling spirit, and moral.

The Founder

General Choi Hong Hi (11/09/1918 - 06/15/2002), created Taekwon-Do with the purpose of developing a new martial art for Korea. On April 11, 1955, he officially named the martial art, Taekwon-Do. He created the martial art for self-defense.
